The 25% surtax on certain goods originating from the United States set to come into force on February 4th is yet another devastating blow to Canada’s already struggling firearms and hunting industry.

With approximately 80% of ammunition, 90% of primers, and 60% of firearms imported from the U.S., these tariffs will drastically increase costs for businesses and consumers.

The firearm industry that is already battling restrictive and unworkable regulations and unfair mass firearm prohibitions from the Canadian government, will now face even greater strain as prices skyrocket and sales decline.

Hunters, sport shooters, and firearms enthusiasts will be dramatically affected as they are forced to scale back their purchases or pay a much higher rate for hunting and shooting essentials.

This policy will harm small businesses Canada-wide as well as responsible gun owners while weakening an industry that plays a vital role in Canada’s heritage, conservation, and economy.
