I hope this letter finds you well.  I am writing on behalf of the Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association to express my concerns regarding the Business Web Services system, specifically in relation to its impact on gun stores and the significant financial losses incurred due to website outages.

Operating a gun store in Canada entails a high level of responsibility, including strict adherence to regulations and processes. The Business Web Services system plays a pivotal role in their day-to-day operation, particularly when it comes to legal firearm transfers and sales.

Unfortunately, the recurrent website outages have been a source of immense frustration for our members. These outages not only disrupt their daily operations but also result in substantial financial losses, often amounting to thousands of dollars. Such losses are unsustainable for businesses that operate within a regulated industry where compliance and accuracy are paramount.

We kindly request that the RCMP consider implementing revisions to the Business Web Services system to enhance its reliability and minimize downtime. Ensuring a stable and efficient online platform is crucial for the smooth functioning of businesses like gun stores, which contribute to the Canadian economy while upholding the strictest safety and security standards.

If we cannot resolve the unreliability of this system, we require the CFP phone operators to be available during our firearms business hours to facilitate transfers – weekends and evenings, as soon as possible.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss this matter further and provide any insights or feedback that may assist in improving the Business Web Services system. We are committed to ensuring that our members’ operations run smoothly and in full compliance with the law, and we believe that a more reliable online platform would greatly contribute to achieving this goal.
