The Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association promotes our members’ commitment to the legal sales of firearms, ammunition, archery equipment and hunting and sport shooting accessories.
We support and promote hunting and sport shooting as legitimate and socially beneficial sporting activities and our business owners as meaningful contributors to their local and our national economies.
Eligibility
The Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association Industry Legends Award recognizes success and longevity within the hunting and firearms industry.
Nominees must be currently or previously active working members of the firearm and/or hunting industry.
Qualifications
1. Years in Industry 1 – 10 – must be verified complete years by 3 individuals (1 points per yr)
(a) Company of employment must be a manufacturer, wholesaler, or retailer of goods in the shooting sports industry, a sales representative for a company that sells shooting sports merchandise or a member of a
recognized shooting sports specific media.
*At least 3 members of the industry must verify each year of full-time employment.
2. Years in Industry 20 – 30 – must be verified complete years by 3 individuals (2 points per yr)
(a) Same as 1. (a) with bonus points for longevity
3. Years in Industry 30 + – must be verified complete years by 3 individuals (3 points per yr)
(a) Same as 1. (a) with bonus points for longevity
4. One time bonus for leadership – must be verified by 3 individuals (5 points)
(a) One-time bonus is if the individual was the leader of their firm for more than 1 yr (role of owner, president, CEO or COO)
*At least 3 members of the company must verify this position.
5. One time bonus for company of employment national (3 points)
(a) If the company of employment is deemed to conduct business Canada wide a one time 3-point value will be added.
6. One time bonus for company of employment international (4 points)
(a) If the company of employment is deemed to conduct business internationally a one time 5-point value will be added.
7. CSAAA elected volunteer board of directors (3 points per year)
(a) If the individual was an elected member of the volunteer CSAAA board of directors they shall receive 3-point values for each year they were on the board.
8. If volunteer on CSAAA recognized additional boards (2 points per year)
(a) Same as 7. (a) except members may have volunteered for NFA, CILA, CSSA, CCFR, NSSF or a board on any provincial wildlife federation.
9. If volunteer spot was leadership (5 points)
(a) If the individual was the leader of their volunteer org (i.e. role of owner, president, CEO or COO)
Criteria
Nomination
To file a nomination, the nominator must file using the online nomination form.
The nomination form asks for the nominee’s contact information, general background information and a brief description of why your nominee qualifies for the award.
After completing the form, you may attach any supporting documents including a bio, photos or articles.
Nominee’s can be put forward by any active CSAAA member.
Once nominated the nomination shall be deemed active for 10 years, if the nominee does not reach recognition in 10 years the nomination shall be deemed inactive, and the individual would have to be re-nominated to be active.
Nominees will be considered and selected by the Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association Legends Selection Committee.
Legends Selection Committee
The Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association Legends Selection Committee consists of 4 current members of the CSAAA Board of Directors with the chair of the committee being the CSAAA President.
If a committee member is no longer on the board the chair shall appoint a new member.
Selection Procedure
Honourees will be selected by the Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association Legends Selection Committee.
The scoring of each nominee shall be done by each member of the committee.
The high and low numbers shall be tossed and a median of the 2 remaining shall be the score.
The committee shall induct a maximum of 2 Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association Industry Legends per Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association Legends Dinner to a max of 12 per year.
Once nominated and scored the 2 highest members from that region shall be recognized at each event.
